Megan Kearns is a film critic, freelance writer, and podcaster. She’s also a feminist queer vegan.

Megan is the co-host of Spoilerpiece Theatre, a weekly film podcast. She is also a co-host of The Slashers, a limited series film podcast on the Golden Age of slasher horror films (1980-1984). She writes film reviews as a regular contributor to the LGBTQ+ site EDGE Media Network.

Her written work has appeared at Bitch MediaInSession Film, Dread CentralWomen and HollywoodEveryday Feminism, and more. A frequent guest, she has appeared on podcasts such as Binge Movies, Almost Major, ScreenRun, and more.

Megan is a member of the Boston Online Film Critics Association (BOFCA) and GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics.

Megan founded the blog The Opinioness of the Worlda feminist vegan site covering issues and topics in film, TV, media, food, body positivity, politics, animals, pop culture, and reproductive justice. She was an editor at the feminist film site Bitch Flicks, currently on hiatus.

In addition to writing and podcasting, Megan possesses a diverse career background in gender, finance, politics, and event planning. She worked as the Administrative and Program Coordinator at the Women and Public Policy Program (WAPPP) at Harvard Kennedy School where she coordinated the non-partisan political training program From Harvard Square to the Oval Office.

Passionate about reproductive justice and social justice, Megan has volunteered with or fundraised for Eastern Massachusetts Abortion (EMA) FundNARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, Athena Film Festival, and Casa Myrna Vazquez‘s domestic violence hotline.

Megan earned her B.A. in Anthropology and Sociology (Double Major) and earned a Graduate Certificate in Women in Politics and Public Policy from UMass Boston.

In her spare time, Megan goes to independent film theatres, attends film festivals, peruses bookshops, eats all the vegan food, and perpetually adds more films to her never-ending streaming queue.
